my creative space: cushion + sausage dog

I was really inspired by Christina Lowry Designs' gorgeous ripple baby blanket she has been crocheting. I have been dying to try the ripple crochet for ages, and thought I would make a cushion! Our couches desperately need some nice cushions! I looked up some videos on YouTube and found this one by Mikey (he totally loves crochet!!) really helpful and easy to follow!

:: ripple crochet

I think it's going to look great... much to the disgust of my Mr... he's not too keen on crochet! I think he thinks I'm going to go crazy and start crochet everything in the house! There are some crazy crocheting people out there... ha ha ha!

What do you think? Am I bit crazy, is it going to look ok or is it going to be totally daggy/unsightly?

:: nearly finished...

I also finished my little sausage dog, he's so cute! He was looking a bit strange as I was putting him together but looked gorgeous once all his little bits were sewn on :)

  1. I don't know, I grew up with these blankets so I'm not sure I can be objective! But they're all the rage now, so if you like it, go for it! My mother crocheted these endlessly, it seems, in truly awful acrylic (when I realized there were places that sold lovely-feeling yarn? what a revelation!!). In fact, I have a couple in my own house. My mom made me one when I was in high school and the other to take to college. The kids love them, and they stick their fingers through the holes exactly like I used to do as a kid. And because they are made of that awful acrylic, when the cat hair builds up too much I stick them in the washer and they are practically dry by the end of the spin cycle. ;)

  2. Oh my - your little sausage dog is just adorable! And I like the chevron cushion cover - I think touches of crochet around the house can look absolutely fantastic.

    The cushion cover looks to be coming along really well and I think those colours should go well with your couch.

  11. I started a ripple cushion cover a while ago and it's lying abandoned in my WIP pile ... something didn't quite go right somewhere along the line and I fear I'll be unravelling it and starting over. Yours, however, looks great! I like the understated colours - very chic! I'm sure your husband will come round!
