I just love Colossal it's such an wonderful and inspiring website of all things creative! Today there is some amazing photography work by Michael Shindler - Tintype Portraits! Love it!

some motivation... I think?
I'm still in a bit of a creative "slump" at the moment! Just when I think I'm back on track, I go "slump" again! I'm not sure if it's because I have to many things whirling around in my head at the moment and I have no idea where to start so I feel a little paralyzed... It's driving me a little bit crazy!!!
Very interesting! I think.... it's motivating (?) or it could be a bit depressing, if you look at in another way? (oh dear... I have so much work to do!) But I suppose it's good to know that others go through the same thing too! And it's ok to have high expectations and a vision of the work that you want to create and make! Hmmm... well I better get on with it... I have a huge volume of work to do if I want to get anywhere! :)
Where do you find motivation and inspiration when the going gets tough? I would love to hear any ideas!

I love Gemma Correll, she is such a great illustrator! Her naive style of illustrating is very cool!!! She mainly illustrates about her very cute little pug - Mr Norman Pickles, lots of kitties and some other silly things too! I just love her funny sense of humour, it just crack me up and makes my day! :)

How gorgeous and beautiful is this man!!! I just love his work, his words and his philosophy! His paper cutting work is amazing... I'm quite envious! This little video/interview that he did for Etsy blog is just lovely... it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy :)

I love paper city...
How cool is this....Yesterday I found sian lile makes through Our Creative Space. She did a post about "Paper City" which she had made with her little ones! Lots of colour in and playing...it looks like so much fun and it really caught my imagination.. I just love it!
She got the images for the paper city from Made by Joel! Sian said she also drew lots of her own things too! There are loads of things to print off and colour in for the paper city.
But that's not all from this fantastic little site... they are all about making craft and creativity accessible to all kids! There are so many great little craft projects and other things to do - here - and they are all free to access!!
There is so much to explore on this great little creative site... I just love it :)

inspiration: papercuts by Nia May
We live two minutes away from Summer Hill in the inner west of Sydney, it's such a great little village with some lovely cafes and shops! One of my favourite's is Sweets Workshop which is a gorgeous little art gallery that also sells beautiful prints, gift ware, zines and all sorts of fab things! I always wish I had lots of money every time I venture in there! I popped in there on the weekend to check out Nia May's little exhibition! Wow.. her work is just so beautiful, a little quirky and SO inspiring, especially as I love cutting stencils for screen printing myself! I really admire people who can papercut so beautifully! It just makes me want to get out the craft knife and get cutting some stencils :)

Day 3 of blogtoberfest 2011
watercolour: Water Paper Paint
I really love Heather Smith Jones' work and just had to get her book "Water, Paper, Paint"! I was so excited when I got the it in the post last week! I have been drooling over the pages for days! Such a beautiful little book with lots of information about watercolour painting, brushes, paint etc. The book is full of interesting projects to do which allows you to explore your creativity! I love the fact that it's totally hands on learning!
Since my watercolour course has now finished, I'm going to complete a project from the book each week. I have started with Project 2 - working wet onto dry!
It's a very interesting little exercise... you may think painting coloured squares is easy but it really makes you think about placement, size, colours/hues, techniques and it's also really good practice in painting straight lines with watercolour too - a tricky, uncontrolable little beast at times!
I got a little carried away on Saturday night... yes I was at home painting (and loving it) and I was up until 1am painting...ouch!! I had no idea what the time was as I was so engrossed in the project... I had to finish the first layer, which I think turned really well! The next step will be layer number two with stronger hues! I can't wait to do some more this week... it's just too much fun :)

inspiration: Geninne's Art Blog
I came across Geninne's Art Blog late last year and have been in awe ever since. I just love her work, especially the gorgeous little birds she creates and paints! The color combinations she uses are so beautiful and I love the attention to detail, they are all just amazing pictures.
I also love looking back through her blog and seeing how her style has developed over the years, it's so inspiring. It's great to see images of her process, from the drawings, to the different stages in painting. She was the one who has inspired me to do the watercolor painting course, especially after watching the watch me paint video on her site, I thought... I really would love to learn! I never ever thought I would be interested in watercolour!!! I always thought it was for pensioners.. how wrong was I :) I love going to Geninne's site, it always make me happy to read her blog, see her artwork and lovely little birds :)
