my creative space: a winter beanie

Not much going on around here lately, as I have been struck down with a dreaded cold! But on the bright side it's one of those ones that your brain goes a bit "la la la de da"... if you are going to get a cold that's the one you want! So it's not so bad really, but I haven't been terribly productive! I did manage to finish a little beanie for my little man last week...

:: knitted beanie using double pointed needles

I based my beanie on this pattern here. I started knitted the beanie on round knitting needles and then had to change to double pointed knitting needles once it all started to get too small to knit on the round. It was the first time I've used double pointed needles and I kind of, accidentally taught myself how to use them and realised why there are four needles in the pack and only three have the knitting on them - the other one is to do the knitting with!! I feel quite silly not knowing that! :)

:: beanie - grey, blue and mustard

I am really happy with how it turned out and I love the grey, mustard and blue colours together! It'll be great forkeeping my little man's head warm as the weather is getting colder here in Sydney!

Hope you are having a great creative week!
There are lots of creative people over at my creative space...

  3. Clever sticks! Your beanie meets all the requirements - great colours, stripes and a pom pom. I'm yet to try my hand at a beanie, but I have book marked this pattern for when I do. :)

  4. Clever you, I still haven't got the hang of round needles or double pointed ones either. Have had a go, but gave up in frustration........

The beanie looks lovely and snuggly and great colours for a little boy, cute pom pom too......I'm sure he'll get plenty of wear from it.

  16. Great colors, very cute! I've managed to do even the teeny, tiny bits with circulars, but DPNs definitely have their advantage once you get used to them. (I thought they were very fiddly at first.)
